In Experiments in Imagining Otherwise, Lola Olufemi deftly navigates the space between what we have been told, what we know to be true and what we cannot yet conceive. Weaving together fragmentary reflections and prose poetry, this is an exploration of the possibility of living differently, grounded in black feminist scholarship and community work.

CTSG is proud to host an online conversation between Lola Olufemi, Brekhna Aftab and Farhaana Arefin, exploring feminist imaginings, black and brown futures, and what radical publishing looks like, feels like and can do in times of crisis. We will also hear an excerpt from Experiments in Imagining Otherwise and hold a Q+A.

Lola Olufemi is a black feminist writer and researcher from London. She is the author of Experiments in Imagining Otherwise (Hajar Press, 2021) and Feminism, Interrupted: Disrupting Power (Pluto Press, 2020) and co-author of A FLY Girl’s Guide to University (Verve Poetry Press, 2019). She is a member of ‘bare minimum’, an interdisciplinary anti-work arts collective and the recipient of the 2020 techne AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership between the Stuart Hall Foundation, CREAM and Westminster School of Arts. Her work focuses on the uses of the feminist imagination, its relationship to futurity, political demands and imaginative-revolutionary potential.
